Presentation for professional providers who work with families or individuals with autism or other disabilities

An opportunity to identify resources and learn stategies to assist families and individuals to plan, learn and think about independant housing

Linda is the co-founder and coordinator of GMOA and mother of 2 sons living in their own house with a roommate and support


Information: 

The GMOA program helps people with disabilites along with their families and supports, make housing plans to get a home of their own. As an individual with a disability you may have additional concerns when you move out of your family home or to a new living arrangement. These presentations introduce how to make housing plans based on your needs, choices, and resources and also welcome to attend with you or on their own. 


Discussion Topics Include:

1. Resources and tools to assist in the Person Centered Planning process

2. How to assist in making housing goals using the person centered planning process and self determiniation principals

3. Creating houseing budget, including public and private funding sources

4. Decide the appropriate level of direct care and other supports options for affordable housing through renting or buying

5. Identifying roommates to share housing cost and companionship
