Abstract: 

This conference addresses a variety of health issues specific to Men,The Magic of Hope is a presentation focused on self awareness of, and coping skills for, anxiety, depression, and stress. In this presentation, Anthony Groupido uses world class magic and Storytelling to demonstrate examples of positive and negative ways we deal with day-to-day challenges. 

Josh Landon, Keynote Speaker Day 2 • Maintaining Good Mental Health While Working in a Stressful Environment • We will discuss how to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit while working in stressful and at times, dangerous situations. As a male reporter who always has to “have it all together in front of the camera”, we’ll discuss how to make sure healthy habits and taking time to care for my mental health is part of my daily journey. • Josh Landon-Television News Anchor/Reporter  

Speaker Bio(s):

Anthony Grupido: 

Anthony is a Keynote Speaker, Consultant, and hailed as Michigan's Best Magician. He's on a mission to help people with resiliency, mental wellness, and Suicide Prevention by providing his audiences with practical tools and advice for coping with their stress, anxiety, and depression. He uses his talents as a Magician, and his Personal Story of overcoming mental adversities, to remind us that we have the tools to accomplish whatever we think is impossible.

Josh Landon: 

Josh is a Fox 2 news TV reporter and anchor. He loves the city of Detroit and his job as a reporter/anchor at Fox 2 News Detroit. Born in the Detroit, raised on the east side and graduated from Denby High School, Josh attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a degree in broadcast journalism. He started his career in Lansing and has worked in Florida, Virginia and Wisconsin before moving back to the big “D”. Josh is passionate about the city and loves covering stories that impact the lives of young people who are definitely making a difference in and around their communities and neighborhoods.

Training Description:

Attendees will not only learn self-awareness around these thoughts/feelings but will be educated on how they can talk to a counselor, social worker, or trusted family member when they are in need.

 


Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to: 

1) Learn effective ways to cope with mental health and trauma

2) Learn how to address mental health and trauma

3) Understand the prevalence of mental illness

4) Recognize signs of an overdose and administer narcan


Suggested Participants:

Men and young men ages 13 and up, community members, case-managers, social-workers, and treatment professionals responsible for facilitation of treatment plans for persons receiving mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities.

Registration Policy

Pre-registration is required. Participants are welcome to attend the training as a walk-in (someone that did not pre-register), however, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to assure that there is enough room. Plan to pre-register to ensure your attendance.
