Abstract: Participants have been using the basic techniques, spirit and principles of Motivational Interviewing. With this training they will increase their skill level and focus on evoking change talk.  Participants will be able to identify ambivalence and use it to establish stage-appropriate goals and encourage the change process with consumers.
 
Objectives:
  1. Review the Spirit and Principles of Motivational Interviewing
  2. Review and practice the 4 Micro-skills (OARS), with an emphasis on evoking change talk
  3. Differentiate between the 6 Stages of Change, including relapse
  4. Display competence in using 2-3 approaches to evoke change talk and establish a plan for change
 
 
 

Suggested Participants: MCPN Adult Providers, Case Managers, Social Workers, Professional Counselors, Addictions Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Administrator, and Clinical Directors serving adults.

Please note: Employees of private practices are eligible to attend for a fee of $15.

-SOCIAL WORKERS:  5.5 continuing education credits are approved for this training. 

 -LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS: 5.5 continuing education credits are approved for this event.  The DWMHA's Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. 

 -QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (QMHP): These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP staff. 

-TRAINING HOURSThis event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.
