Information:

The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised is a semi-structured parent interview for individuals who have been referred for possible autism spectrum disorder.  This 2-day workshop will utilize a lecture format to describe administration and coding guidelines, and videos for scoring practice.  The 93-item interview typically requires 2 to 2 1/2 hours to administer, is scored as the interview proceeds, then scores are summarized after the interview to determine diagnostic classification.  It can be used for diagnostic purposes for referrals with mental age of at least 18 months. The interview is divided into sections: background history, developmental milestones, communication, social development and play, repetitive and restricted behavior questions, and questions about general behavior problems.

Course Objectives:

• To develop familiarity with the ADI-R.

• To observe administration of a semi-structured standard interview.

• To learn specific definitions of individual behaviors relevant to scoring the ADI-R.

• To practice coding from a live or taped interview.

• To use and understand ADI-R diagnostic algorithms.

• Discuss how ADI-R results are interpreted and reported.
