HandoutsAs we continue our efforts to become more “green” we will be reducing printed handouts and moving towards distributing power points and resources electronically. For this and future Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds trainings, you will receive the handouts as an attachment in your final confirmation e-mails, which are sent prior to the training. Print copies of handouts WILL NOT be provided by DWMHA for this training.

Suggested Participants: Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Juvenile Justice and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers, child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses, occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.
Professional staff within our Community Partners who interact with children, adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental Health System, including Department of Human Services; Hospitals; Law Enforcement; School Personnel, including Detroit Public Schools; and other Social Service Organizations.


Training Description: If mental health professionals are to assume a leadership role in ensuring and promoting human rights, they need to be knowledgeable about human trafficking and modern day slavery and apply their tools and skills brodaly and creatively, taking in to account issues of culture, powre, privilege, and oppression. This effort includes collaborating across professions, intervening in local, state, and national policy areans as advocates and thought leaders; recognizing, assisting, and supporting victimxs and survivors; and galvanizing otherd to do so as well. 

Course Objectives:

Participants will gainknowledge and understanding on: 

  1. The types and venues of human trafickingf in the United States,
  2. Identifying victims of human trafficking in health care settings;
  3. Identify th ewarning signs of human trafficking in health care settings for adults and minors
  4. Explore resources for reporting the suspected victims of human trafficking

About the Speaker(s):
 
Angelique Yvette Robinson, MS, LLP, QMHP, CMHP is a Crisis Care Clinician with the Children's Center in Detroit. She brings a decade of experience working with at-risk children and adolescents. Additionally, she has extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis and group therapy. 
 
Duane Breijak, LMSW-Macro is the Director of Member Services & Development with the National Association of Social Workers-Michigan Chapter. Duane is a highly motivated and innovative leader that drives for results, connects individuals and organizations, and works for legislative and policy advocacy. 
 
Jessica Lynn Winalis, LLBSW, QIDP is a Case Manager with the Children's Center in Detroit where she conducts SED/DDS - Triage for outpatient and inpatient mental health services and provides needed resource materials. She continues to enhance her skills and experiences earning numerous training certificates. 

Continuing Education Credits: 3.0 Continuing Education Credits are offered for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety.  You must have your license number when you check in.

  • Social Workers:  3.0 Continuing Education Credits are approved for this training. 
  • Counselors: 3.0 Continuing Education Credits are approved for this training. The VCE is a National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
  • Substance Abuse Professionals: 3.0 Non-Specific Continuing Education Credits are approved by MCBAP for substance use professionals, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADC).
  • Children's Mental Health Professionals (CMHP): These training hours meet the MDCH training requirement for CMHP staff.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP): These training hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP staff.
  • Medical Professionals: The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians. 

The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


Registration/Walk In Policy: Participants may attempt to attend the training as a walk-in (someone that did not pre-register). However, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to ensure there is enough room. Plan to pre-register to ensure your attendance.
