There is no cost to attend this training. 
 
Handouts: As we continue our efforts to become more “green” we will be reducing printed handouts and moving towards distributing power points and resources electronically. For this and future Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds trainings, you will receive the handouts as an attachment in your final confirmation e-mails, which are sent several days prior to the training. Print copies of handouts WILL NOT be provided by DWIHN for this training.
 
Suggested Participants: Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Juvenile Justice and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers, child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses, occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.
Professional staff within our Community Partners who interact with children, adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental Health System, including Department of Human Services; Hospitals; Law Enforcement; School Personnel, including Detroit Public Schools; and other Social Service Organizations.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This training will outline what it is like to work in community mental health. We will discuss what to anticipate, and look forward to, working in this field. We will discuss challenges/barriers, and ways to overcome them.

Ways to overcome challenges/barriers to treatment How to care for oneself, in order to promote longevity in the field 

 
AGENDA
9:00-9:30 am Welcome/Introduction, What is community mental health?
9:30 -10:00 am What are the challenges clinicians may encounter?
10:00 - 10:30 am What are some ways to address those challenges? 
10:30-11:00 am How can we use self-care to minimize burnout and promote longevity in the field?


 


Registration is required. Walk-ins WILL NOT be permitted. Register to ensure your attendance.

If you work WITHIN Wayne County please dismiss the payment portion of the registration process and hit "submit".

If you work OUTSIDE of Wayne County there is a nominal $15.00 registration fee to attend this training. Please pay prior to your arrival by entering your credit card information when the registration process asks for it. You may also bring a company check or money order for the full amount with you to the registration table at the event as well. All checks/money orders can be made out to ‘DWMHA’. Receipts will be available upon request.


Substitutions are permitted at any time. No Shows will be billed at the same rate. Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 7 business days prior to the training to asmith1@dwihn.org in order to obtain a full refund. If cancellation is received less than 7 days prior to the training, no refund will be issued.
