COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This training will involve an in-depth discussion on Health Disparities, starting with a general overview, then moving into a presentation on three main areas: Infant Mental Health, Maternal Health and Pediatric/Adolescent Behavioral Heath.  Participants will walk away with a better understanding of health disparities that affect the population they serve as well as how to help reduce health disparities. 

 

OBJECTIVES

1. Understand the definition and general impact of Health Disparities 

2. Describe the physical and psychological impact of Health Disparities on infant and maternal health 
3. Understand how Integrated Health Care can impact Pediatric and Adolescent Behavioral Health Disparities
 
AGENDA
9:00-9:30am-Introduction and general overview of Health Disparities 
9:30-11:00am- Presentation on specific focus areas: Infant/maternal physical  behavioral health disparities, Pediatric/Adolescent behavioral health disparities and the Integrated Health Care Model

-CHILD MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL:These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for CMHP staff.

-QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL: These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP staff.

-SOCIAL WORKERS: 2 continuing education credits are pending for this training.

-TRAINING HOURS: This event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.
