Suggested Participants:
Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Juvenile Justice and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers, child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses, occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.
Professional staff within our Community Partners who interact with children, adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental Health System, including Department of Human Services; Hospitals; Law Enforcement; School Personnel, including Detroit Public Schools; and other Social Service Organizations.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this two-hour training, Adventure & Experiential Therapy (AT, ET) will be defined, critical components will be discussed, and some techniques and skills will be demonstrated.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this 2-hour training, participants will:

1. Know the difference between adventure and experiential therapy
2. Learn a model for adventure practice
3. Will learn the six components of the practice model
4. Leave with several adventure tools that will be easily replicated in their practice
5. Demonstrate ways to infuse adventure practice components into their current practice approach
