Course Description:

Throughout this training series we have discussed the big picture goals of leadership: crafting effective systems, focusing on how to identify performance deficits and finding better ways to motivate our staff. However, this is a small portion of our every day job as leaders. Many of us feel pulled in the direction of endless meetings that could have been emails and a barrage of paperwork and red tape that actually keep us from our most important duty: training and overseeing our staff. Today’s focus will be on evidenced based staff training procedures that will provide you with the tools to improve staff performance without (hopefully) breaking the energetic budget.

Course Objective:

1. Participants will describe “competency based training” and how it differs from traditional training objectives
2. Participants will define Behavioral Skills Training and why it is effective
3. Participants will list and describe the core tenets of pyramidal training.
4. Participants will describe effective antecedent interventions to aid in training.
5. Participants will be able to develop a performance improvement plan with pinpointed targets using evidenced based training strategies.

Timed Agenda:
1. 30 minutes: Competency Based Training Introduction

2. 30 minutes: Behavioral Skills Training (BST)

3. 30 minutes: Pyramidal Training

4. 30 minutes: Antecedent intervention and EBT planning
