Course Description
This panel discussion will focus on how to support parents and caregivers in treatment through the use of ancillary services such as Parent Support Partners and Parent Management Training- Oregon Model (PMTO).  Engaging parents is key to successful outcomes in treatment, so throughout this discussion our panelists will highlight key ways in which clinicians, case managers and wraparound facilitators can continue to keep parents involved in treatment and advocating for their child's needs in a constructive way.  

Course Objectives
1. Define the role of a parent in treatment and discuss the importance that their engagement plays in treatment planning

 
2. Learn different engagement techniques specific to parents/caregivers
 
3.  Understand how different ancillary services, such as the Parent Support Partner Program, and Evidence Based Practices, such as PMTO, may provide additional support for parents and ensure success in treatment for the family as a whole. 


Timed Agenda:
12:00pm-1:30pm  Panel discussion and education on methods to engage and support parents throughout their child's treatment while also utilizing additional supports such as Parent Support Partners and PMTO.

-SOCIAL WORKERS:  Continuing education credits are approved for this training. = 1.5
 
-MICHIGAN CERTIFICATION BOARD FOR ADDICTION PROFESSIONALS: This event hours meets the MDCH training requirement for MCBAP staff = 1.5 Hours.
 
-CHILD MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (CMHP): This event hour meets the MDCH training requirement for CMHP staff = 1.5 Hours.
