Course Description:
This course will teach attendees the benefits of yoga as a clinical technique as well as how participants can utilize yoga in their own lives to promote healing and reduce the negative effects of secondary traumatic stress on their bodies and minds. The instructor, Marin Drouillard, LMSW, is certified in Trauma Center- Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) through the Center for Trauma and Embodiment (Justice Resource Institute).
Course Objectives:
- Introductory review of the physiology of post-traumatic stress (primary and secondary) on the body.
- Review of the research on yoga as an effective intervention for trauma survivors
- Review the 5 standard components of trauma sensitive yoga
- Facilitate an opportunity for attendees to create their own yoga experience
