This is a unique opportunity to attend a training with whom the developers of the program in Washington state are coming here to speak in person about their experiences.

SUMMARY: This training is a learning forum about The Children's Resilience Initiative (CRI), a highly effective and innovative program in Walla Walla, WA created as a response to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). ACEs are childhood traumas that result in actual changes in brain development with resultant negative impacts of adult behavioral and physical health.
Considered to be among the most authoritative speakers on a community’s response to Adverse Childhood experiences, CRI’s co-founders, Teri Barila and Mark Brown, will share information on the impact of childhood trauma on development, and their strategies for building a community response to promote resilience.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Participants will be able to-
- Define Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
- Identify the impact of childhood trauma on brain development, adult behavioral and physical health
- Apply strategies for building a community response to promote pathways to resilience
SUGGESTED PARTICIPANTS: Professional staff within our Community Partners who interact with children, adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental Health System, including but not limited to Department of Human Services; hospitals; juvenile and family court systems; law enforcement; school personnel; and other social service organizations
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: Continuing education credits are approved for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety including the question and answer portion. Late arrivals and early departures will result in the deduction of awarded credits. All participants MUST return to the check-in desk to sign-out and pick-up your certificate of attendance or else you will forfeit your proof of attendance and training hours/credits!
-SOCIAL WORKERS: 2.5 continuing education credits are approved for this training
This course can be used toward the 24 hours of Michigan Department of Community Health required CECs for Child Mental Health Professionals (CMHP) in children’s diagnostic treatment programs.
