This training will provide basic information in regard to facts and characteristics of autism spectrum disorder. The training is geared toward those who may have heard about autism spectrum disorder, but would like a better understanding of the disorder. The Medicaid Autism Benefit will also be discussed, providing an understanding of how this new benefit will work. Lastly, we will review the M-CHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers), which is the preferred screening tool when identifying characteristics on the autism spectrum disorder.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- The primary signs of ASD
- The M-CHAT screening tool for ASD
- The Autism Medicaid Benefit
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Staff of the following programs: Early On, Head Start, Infant Mental Health, Wayne RESA, ARCs of Wayne, ARCs of Detroit, Great Start Collaborative, Home Visitors Alliance, Medicaid Health Plans, Family Physicians, WCHAP; anyone working with children from birth through 5 years of age; parents; caregivers; respite and at-home workers; early learning teachers, etc.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:
This training does not offer continuing education credits. However, a certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the training and this will count toward training hours.
