CEUs: 12.0 CEUs (6.0 each day)
Recommended Audience: Participants must be Wayne County clinicians working directly with children diagnosed with severe emotional disturbance and their families, and professionals providing infant mental health services.
**This training was given previously on 8/12/2015 & 9/2/205. If you have previously taken this course, please do not re-register. You can only receive credit for this training once.**
Participants in this training will be able to:
- Understand the basic principles of Motivational Interviewing, including ambivalence, empathy, resistance, and change talk, display competency in using 4 MI skills
- Understand the Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change), as a process and transition, including identifying the 5 Stages of Change
- Create a stage-appropriate treatment plan and identify 2-3 interventions for each stage of change.

Continuing Education Information:
12.0 Continuing Education Credits are offered for this training (6.0 for each day). Participants must attend both days, arrive on time and remain in the training for its entirety including the question and answer portion. Late arrivals and early departures will result in the deduction of awarded credits. All participants MUST return to the check-in desk to pick-up your certificate of attendance or else you will forfeit your proof of attendance and training hours/credits.
SOCIAL WORKERS: 12.0 Continuing Education Credits are approved for this training.
COUNSELORS: 12.0 continuing education credits are approved for this training. The Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.
SUBSTANCE USE PROFESSIONALS: 12 specific Continuing Education Credits are approved by MCBAP for substance use professionals, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADC).
CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL: 12 CMPH Credits are approved for this training
This training satisfies the MDCH Co-Occurring training requirement for adolescent clinicians.
