Information:

The science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) uses behaviorally-based strategies to generate learning.  As ABA Practitioners, it can be challenging to decide upon which strategy to use with a client in order to promote effective learning, generalization, and maintenance of the skill.  Within this training, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the various prompting methods available to build skills in learners, as well as develop the ability to “think outside the box” when choosing prompts to use with their learners.  Additionally, participants will engage in an interactive small group activity in which they use a step-by-step guide to aide in the decision-making process as it relates to the use of prompting in varying severities of problem behavior.  Through this training, participants will become better equipped to use the principles of ABA to develop skills in clients that lead them towards happier, healthier, and more successful lifestyles.

Learning Objectives:

A. Differentiate between and provide examples of both “response prompts” and “stimulus prompts.”
B. Describe and demonstrate the appropriate fading process of prompts used for skill development and behavior management.
C. Describe the benefits of the use of an “Errorless Learning” approach to teaching new skills.
D. Apply a step-by-step decision guide when making decisions regarding the use of various levels of prompting in instances of problem behavior.
