Abstract:
Angela Farley, LMSW, BCBA Angela Farley is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She received her Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University in 2012 with a focus on Interpersonal Practice in Mental Health. She completed behavior analysis coursework through Florida Institute of Technology in 2015 and has been certified as a BCBA since November 2015. She currently serves as the Senior Manager of the Applied Behavior Analysis program at The Children’s Center of Wayne County. Angela has focused her career on partnering with families to improve the lives of children with Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Her areas of professional interest include Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention Therapy, Caregiver Training, toilet training, and providing mentorship and supervision for professionals who are pursing certification in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Course Objectives:
1. Identify 2-3 reasons that the use of Natural Environment Teaching is important.
2. Apply the “Seven Dimensions of Applied Behavior Analysis” to their work with clients.
3. Describe and apply 2—3 strategies for conducting Natural Environment Teaching.
4. Determine 2-3 skills that can be readily taught in the natural environment.
This presentation focuses on the effective teaching of clients who are receiving behavior analytic therapy, thus ensuring that children are given more equal access to quality services in their service area. Additionally, the training will seek to explain the value of building rapport with a client in order to generalize teaching into other settings.
This presentation will encourage participants to “meet the client where they are" in terms of their current learning abilities, while seeking to teach skills that grow their current repertoire. Participants will be encouraged to interact with clients in a way that suits the client the best and leads to the greatest possible learning opportunities.
