Course Description:

Description:

Navigating the transition from education to clinical practice is a significant milestone for newly trained clinicians. These new clinicians must adapt to fast-paced clinical workflows, understand organizational culture, build relationships with colleagues, and effectively communicate with families to develop clinical judgment while managing the complexities of client care and documentation. Without sufficient training, preparation, and support as they transition into practice, many of these clinicians experience a lack of confidence, burnout and reduced mindfulness around safety, exacerbating the risks associated with quality clinical care.

In this roundtable discussion, we will talk about workplace anxiety from a less experienced staff person’s perspective. This will include how to recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety and identify coping strategies to implement in one’s daily routine. We will then review the importance of self-advocacy as a newer staff person and will explore how to effectively communicate your needs to your supervisor and upper management. Finally, we will examine the importance of parent/family engagement, look at the barriers to parent/family engagement, and identify ways to handle challenges in engagement.
