Abstract:

Ethics in ABA is often thought of as just compliance with the Ethical code of the BACB. While this code is an important guide to our practice, we also need to know some of the WHY and some of the important considerations in guiding us to make Ethical decisions in our day to day practice. This webinar will discuss some of the history and theory behind Ethics and will also discuss how this level of understanding makes us more conscientious practitioners

Course Objectives:

Review the history of Ethics and how and why all professions have ethical codes.

What are the normative and descriptive ethics? Why is the study of the FUNCTION of Ethics important?

What is meant by Conscientious practice and how the BACB ethical code supports this idea.

What does it mean to be truly client focused and outcome based and why this is an ethical position?
