The Third District Court, Clinic for Child Study will be hosting a 12-week therapy group for youth ages 12-17 who identify as LGBT and/or gender expansive. The purpose of the program is to provide teeangers with a safe space for them to interact with other like-minded youth and share information, strategies, and resources. This will be a support group for youth to share experiences from home, school, and friends as well to learn to building positive self-esteem and deal with stress relating to being in the LGBT community.
The group will discuss various topics such as how to make healthy decisions, how to build self-confidence and pride, how to plan for the future. how to make good grades in school, and how to best communicate with parents and other adults. The group will give out pointers on how to address situations such as being bullied as well.
This group will meet every Wednesday from 3:00pm-5:30pm at the Clinic Treatment Unit located at the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan Family Division - Juvenile Clinic for Child Study
To enroll in this program, youth must be:

be age 12-17
-
identify as lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender, pansexual, genderqueer, and/or gender nonconforming
-
"out" to their parent(s) and have the parent's/caregiver's permission to be in the group\
-
have Medicaid insurance
