Healing in the Village
Date: Saturday, January 19, 2019
Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Alkebu-lan Village (7701 Harper Ave, Detroit, MI 48213)
Join us for a healing in the village with Dr. Joy DeGruy, a world renown clinical psychiatrist who coined the phrase Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS) and published a book by the same title that has been met with critical acclaim across cultural barriers. The depth of research associated with her diagnosis of PTSS in African Americans is paradigm shifting and life altering. Dr. DeGruy states that the foundation of healing comes through simply telling the truth and believes that "truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtue." During this workshop, Dr. DeGruy will share her strategies for healing as well as encouraging others to discover their own.
Dr. DeGruy will be conducting a 4-hour workshop at Alkebu-lan Village on January 19, 2019 from 10 am to 3 pm. There will be a one-hour luncheon between two 2-hour presentations.
