Course Description: 

Members from The Healing Project will provide a presentation on understanding and surviving sexual harm. The audience will be provided with an understanding of the prevalence of sexual harm in our communities, while also reviewing the consequences of sexual harm and the importance that healing plays to those who are survivors. The presentation will also include a discussion with survivors, who will offer their narrative and share their stories to provide further insight into the power of healing as well as an opportunity for them to continue their own life-long healing journey

Course Objective:

 Increase an understanding of what sexual harm is, including helpful and appropriate terminology in discussing sexual harm. 
• Learn relevant information explaining how sexual abuse occurs and is allowed to occur in our society
• Learn how survivors are affected by sexual harm. 
• Learn how to engage in effective dialogue with those who have experienced sexual harm

Timed Agenda:

9:00am-10:00am Presentation on what sexual harm is, appropriate terminology and relevant information as to how sexual harm occurs within our society

9:00am-9:30am  Discussion of how survivors of sexual harm are effected by their trauma and how to begin/encourage the life-long healing process
9:30am-10:00am Question/Comments with the panel of presenters
 
 
Continuing Education Credits: Continuing Education Credits are offered for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for its entirety to receive credits.  No partial credit is available. You must have your license number with you to check in. 
Social Workers: 1.5 Continuing Education credits are approved for this training.
MCBAP: This training meets the MDHHS requirement for Michigan Certified Board of Addictions Professionals 
CMHP: This training meets the MDHHS requirement for Children's Mental Health Professionals.
