2-Day Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training

The last day to register is Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 2pm.

 Date: Monday, December 3, 2018 and Tuesday, December 4, 2018

This is a 2-DAY training. Participants must attend ALL days. Attendance at the 2-day training is preferred but not required.                           

 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

                                                               Location: Lincoln Behavioral Services 9315 Telegraph Rd, Redford Charter Twshp 

Fee: $275 (If you are not part of the Block Grant but are employed by a Wayne County CMH) $350 for all others


Training Description

This training is designed for staff that is directly responsible for delivering DBT. It will primarily focus on how to deliver the individual therapy mode of DBT. Due to the fact DBT is a comprehensive treatment, the core training ought to be comprehensive as well. It is expected that all participants will make a full commitment to attend mindfully and will participate fully in discussion, role-plays and complete daily homework assignments. 

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:
  1. Identify Stage 1 Target Behaviors and learn how to target these behaviors in an individual therapy session
  2. Implement a behavioral chain analysis to identify the function of Stage 1 Target Behaviors
  3. Identify secondary targets and implement at least 3 DBT solutions to treat each one 

Suggested Participants: This event is sponsored by the Adult Mental Health Block Grant and is intended for persons who serve adults through Community Mental Health and CMH Service Providers. 


Continuing Education Credits: Continuing Education Credits are approved for this training.  Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety.  You must have your license number when you check in.

  • Social Workers: 14 continuing Education Credits are approved for this training. 
  • Counselors: 14 continuing Education Credits are approved for this training. The ACEP is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
  • Substance Abuse Professionals: 14 non-Specific Continuing Education Credits are approved by MCBAP for substance use professionals, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADC).
  • Qualified Mental Health Professionals (CMHP): These training hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP staff.

Registration Policy

 This training is free to an already identified group of Wayne County Adult Block Grant recipients. All other participants must pay the specified fee to attend. If you would like to pay to attend as an independent entity you are welcome to do so, but please note that any information related to billing and reimbursement will not apply to you.

Cancellations: Sorry but we are not able to issue refunds if you cancel after November 28, 2018.  If you register and are unable to attend you may transfer your registration to another person.  Please email asmith1@dwmha.com with the subject line "Transfer Registration" and include your contact information as well as the information of the person you are transferring the registration to.
