Training Description

This course will increase participant's understanding of the current trends and factors associated with human trafficking and sexual assault in the United States and locally. Topics for discussion will include medical forensic exams, trauma, gender norms, and rape culture. Participants will additionally learn how to identify victims, as well as support and connect them to available services.
 

TOPICS DISCUSSED: Sexual Assault and Trauma, Medical Forensic Exams, Sex Trafficking, Sexual Assault and the Criminal Justice System, Gender Norms, Rape Culture.

 

Learning Objectives

Define and understand trends associated with human trafficking and sexual assault today.
Discuss the norms and behaviors common among sex victims.
Understand how to connect victims to appropriate resources and services
 
Continuing Education Information: 7.0 Continuing Education Credits are offered for this training.  Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety. 
  • Social Workers:  7.0 Continuing Education Credits are approved for this training. 
  • Training Hours:  This training will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.

Registration Policy

Participants are welcome to attend the training as a walk-in (someone that did not pre-register), however, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to assure that there is enough room. The last day to register is Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 4 pm.
