Abstract: Addressing early childhood problems is complex and requires a variety of treatment interventions that are tailored to specific developmental and mental health needs.  The integration of relational play therapy into infant mental health increases the scope of treatment interventions, and can be viewed as a natural treatment extension to encompass the healing capacities of play for older toddlers and preschoolers. This training will explore relational play therapy approaches that can be integrated into the infant mental health, and examine the process of integration through case studies, and hands-on activities focused on participants learning both non-directive and directive play therapy techniques.

Three Learning Objectives

1. Participants will understand rationale for integration, and be able to identify three relational play therapy approaches

2. Participants will be able to identify the process and criteria of integrating both non-directive and directive play techniques.

3. Participants will learn at least three non-directive and three directive play techniques to be utilized during both assessment and interventions sessions.
