Stop Suicide!  Third Annual Suicide Prevention Conference

Featuring Keynote Speaker: Alex Crosby, MD, MPH; Medical Epidemiologist for the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Etiology and Surveillance Branch, Division of Violence Prevention

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2009

Time: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, the Conference will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.  Check-in will begin at 7:30 AM.  Early arrival is suggested for parking and check-in.

Location:  The Hyatt Regency Dearborn,  600 Town Center Drive, Dearborn, MI 48126

Registration & Conference Fee:  Pre-registration is REQUIRED. Conference Admission Fee is $60 per person.  An "early bird" special of $45 is offered to those who register between July 20th and August 14th.  Early bird payments MUST be received or postmarked by August 14th.  Regular $60 payments must be received or postmarked by September 3, 2009.  Payment options are listed below.

Keynote Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the steps in developing a community coalition.
  • Discuss the strengths and weakness of coalitions as a mechanism of developing community health programs
  • Apply information about developing suicide prevention coalitions to their own community

Suggested Participants:  Advocates, Clergy, College Students, Community Members affected by and/or interested in Suicide Prevention, Counselors, Faith-Based Community Leaders, Other Mental Health Professionals, or Professionals working with families and/or individuals touched by suicide, Parents, Physicians, Psychologists, School Personnel, Social Workers, and Veterans.  Anyone interested in suicide prevention is welcomed; however the content is not recommended for children under 14 years of age.

MENTAL HEALTH, MEDICAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND ALL OTHER PROFESSIONALS

This conference has been approved for 5.5 Continuing Education Credits for Licensed Social Workers.  Late Arrivals and Early Departures will result in the deduction of credits.  PROFESSIONALS MUST HAVE THEIR RESPECTIVE LICENSE NUMBER IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT.

Suicide Prevention Conference 2009.Cancellation Refund Policy: Substitutions are permitted at any time. No Shows will be billed at the same rate. Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 10 business days prior to the training to kpalmer@vceonline.org in order to obtain a full refund.  If cancellation is received less than 10 days prior to the training, no refund will be issued.
