Training Description

The day is dedicated to overcoming barriers to treating clients with Co-occurring disorders. We are looking to address the many problems in stabilizing clients and how to work within our system to enhance overall care. This day is about strategy and addressing opioid addiction, trauma and COD.


Learning Objectives

The workshop has been designed with the below objectives in mind:

  1. Examine some of the issues related to the treatment of co-occuring disorders in community treatment settings
  2. Identify characteristics in the most common co-occurring disorder client types
  3. Describe models of treatment that illustrates evidence supported practices
  4. Grow knowledge on current tools utilized to assess, diagnose and implement treatment planning with clients
  5. Engage in group discussion to identify best practices

Suggested Participants:

Case managers, licensed social workers, and treatment professionals employed by Adult and/or SUD Service providers in Wayne County CMH


Trainer Biography:

Steve Wiland, LMSW, ICADC, CCS

Steve is a licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), currently serving as the Director of the University of Michigan's online Addictions Certificate Program, in addition to other teaching, training, consultation and private practice endeavors. Steve has over 28 years' experience developing treatment programs for, and working with, numerous clinically complex populations, including individuals with personality disorders, trauma survivors, older adults, juvenile offenders, and County jail inmates.

 

Registration Policy

Pre-registration is required. Participants are welcome to attend the training as a walk-in (someone that did not pre-register), however, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to assure that there is enough room. Plan to pre-register to ensure your attendance.

The last day to pre-register is Friday, July 19, 2019 at 4pm.

 

Continuing Education Information

Continuing Education Credits are PENDING for this training.  Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety.

If you work WITHIN Wayne County please dismiss the payment portion of the registration process and hit "submit".

If you work OUTSIDE of Wayne County there is a nominal $15.00 registration fee to attend this training. Please pay prior to your arrival by entering your credit card information when the registration process asks for it. You may also bring a company check or money order for the full amount with you to the registration table at the event as well. All checks/money orders can be made out to ‘DWMHA’. Receipts will be available upon request.


Substitutions are permitted at any time. No Shows will be billed at the same rate. Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 7 business days prior to the training to asmith1@dwmha.com in order to obtain a full refund. If cancellation is received less than 7 days prior to the training, no refund will be issued.
