The Inaugural Community Mental Health Research Day took place on January 27, 2011 at the Northeast Guidance Center Wellness Academy in Detroit, Michigan. The conference covered all types of mental health evaluation and research taking place in the greater Detroit-Wayne County area. Over 150 attendees heard keynote addresses by nationally renowned local presenters. David Rosenberg, MD, the Miriam L. Hamburger Endowed Chair of Psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine and Chief of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, opened the conference with a discussion of how advanced research on human neurobiology is being applied in the clinic and in the community. A distinguished panel of professionals then addressed the wide range of research and evaluation being conducted in Detroit-Wayne County. Following lunch, attendees had the opportunity to interact with more than 20 local researchers/evaluators who discussed their investigations and findings with poster presentations. Sean Joe, PhD, LMSW, an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work and Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, wrapped up the plenary sessions with a discussion on building research partnerships between academic and community organizations. The day concluded with Round Table Networking that focused on specific research issues and populations, designed to promote new partnerships and sharing of resources.

2011 Abstract Compilation

The results of more than twenty evaluation and other research projects conducted in greater Wayne County were featured during the poster session of the Inaugural Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network Research Day Conference on January 27, 2011. The breadth of information reflected in these poster presentations was consistent with the conference theme: An Opportunity to Share and Learn. During the poster session, more than 150 conference attendees and poster presenters interacted and were able to explore new potential partnerships in future research endeavors.
